Growing up in the shade of the California redwoods, I developed a deep appreciation for large and ancient organisms. My journey as an Environmental Science and Public Policy concentrator has shaped this appreciation and interest into a research focus on African megaflora and megafauna. My current research investigates the ecological interactions between elephants and baobabs in Mozambique. For my senior thesis, I will be collecting and integrating field data with LiDAR data to evaluate the extent to which different landscape variables impact the distribution and vulnerability of baobab trees. Other research interests include climate-driven migrations and the environmental justice implications of conservation policy.
