My love and concern for manatees first drew me to conservation biology. My interest in contributing to the conservation of endangered species led me to my senior thesis work on the Cape Parrot which is South Africa’s only endemic parrot species. My research seeks to increase the effectiveness of conservation planning and monitoring to protect Cape Parrots from the key threats of habitat loss and degradation by combining LiDAR and bioacoustics to map habitat quality for the Cape Parrot in the Amathole region.
