I am broadly interested in understanding how predator-prey relationships impact landscapes and animal communities, with a specific interest in the impacts of carnivore-megaherbivore interactions. My current research is focused on how the population ecology of apex carnivores varies between habitat types, and how these differences cascade onto herbivore populations. My research is focused on the rainforest hyena populations of the Congo Basin, working with Evan Hockridge. In addition to rainforest ecosystems, I have worked on plant and herbivore ecology projects in tropical African savannas in South Africa, Kenya, and Congo (projects led by Evan Hockridge, Tyler Coverdale, and myself). My senior thesis, based in Congo, is tentatively titled: "Population ecology & dietary preference of the last rainforest dwelling population of spotted hyena." After graduation, I plan to continue on to a PhD program, where I hope to continue research on my interests in community ecology in sub-Saharan African ecosystems.
