Growing up in rural Wisconsin, I was surrounded by both degraded and undegraded nature. This experience has motivated my interest in spatial ecology and conservation biology. I combine these two interests by researching ecosystem structural trends and their relation to biodiversity and carbon sequestration. I like to use both remote sensing techniques and field methods to support my research, which mainly focuses on different forest ecosystems in the Congo River Basin. Outside of the lab, I love long distance running and singing.
